This is the story of my personal journey in the classic car industry, which began more than 30 years ago.
I left school at the age of 16 and secured an apprenticeship with a specialist Jaguar XK restoration company as a tinsmith. During this time I developed a passion for classic Jaguar XK restoration and traditional panel beating.
In 2011 I took a leap of faith and started my own business. A1XKS was born.
In 2025, A1XKS became A1XKS Limited.
All panels and body shells are produced using a combination of traditional and modern metalworking techniques to ensure accuracy and authenticity.
Over the years I have built up an extensive collection of patterns, tooling and jigs which are used for the accurate reproduction of body panels.
These resources relate to the Jaguar XK models of the 1950s and 1960s, including the XK120, XK140 and XK150.
They also cover OTS (Roadster), DHC (Drophead Coupe) and FHC (Fixedhead Coupe) models, for both early and late production vehicles.

In recent years my son has joined the business as my apprentice and my wife maintains our website and does the accounts and admin.
There are now three generations of the Wentworth family involved in restoring classic cars for customers across all parts of the globe.
While modern cars are mass produced by robots, traditional panel beating remains a skilled craft that requires patience, experience and precision.
I take great pride in producing handmade panels and keeping these traditional methods alive. Passing these skills and knowledge on to the next generation is a privilege and helps ensure they continue to play an important role in the classic car restoration industry.
